Bonjour Switzerland

Bonjour Blog Readers!

My most recent job journey took me to Switzerland! A few fun facts about Switzerland-they speak 4 different languages (French, German, Italian, and Romansh), and they have this adorable deer creature called a Chamois which is a mixture of a goat and a deer, unfortunately I didn't get any photos of those.

Most of my time in Switzerland was spent playing in the Swiss Alps. My first impression of these
mountains were from the airport as I was flying into Geneva. From across the airplane I could see the tops of the mountains sticking out about the cloud layer, it was absolutely beautiful. (I also couldn't get any photos of those, since it was across the plane). But here's the cloud layer...

The drive from the airport was about 1 1/2 hours, and we drove past so many castles! One of my favorite aspects of Europe! We stayed at Le Hotel Des Vignes, and my room was a loft! The downstairs had so much closet space, a couch, desk, tv, etc, and the upstairs had the beds and the bathroom. The village we stayed in was called Uvrier-Sion and it's definitely a vineyard village. There were so many dead and empty grape vines just awaiting spring to arrive for growth. These covered the hills everywhere you went.

Of course I was there working on my super secretive new tv show, but in that work I did things that outdoor enthusiasts plan whole trips to do...snowshoeing through the Alps, taking helicopter rides through the Alps, walking on frozen lakes, and breathing in the mountain air. Photos do the beauty of these mountains absolutely no justice. They are breathe taking, and are as much a spiritual adventure as a physical one. I conquered my own fear and rappelled down a mountain! I was inspired to want to relearn french and study other cultures! I want to go on more outdoor adventures!

One of the coolest things we encountered in Switzerland was the train that takes you through the mountain. You drive your car up onto it, and it transports you through a cool dark tunnel. If only we had trains like that in LA....you'd wait 2 hours to get on that train for the 30 minute ride ;)

The Alps got an exceptional amount of rain and snow this year making the chance of avalanches pretty high. Although I never saw one, we heard several take place. The sound of crashing snow echoes throughout the mountains. One of them was so loud I could see the fear on the face of our show host and our safety coordinator, I was planning my moves in case we saw one, but God kept us all safe.

I had an amazing time in Switzerland and would love to return someday! My next cool adventure will be in May, until then, stand by for other content, it's Sarah's World you all just live in it!
